Energy Efficiency
Benefits of upgrading to more energy efficient light globes in your home.
Basically, there are four types of globe you can have in your home. These are:
-
Standard 50W Halogen Globes
These globes are hot, inefficient and have the shortest life. - Osram IRC 35W Energy Efficient Halogen Globes
We recommend these be used in kitchens and bathrooms as they are as bright as a standard 50W. They use 30% less electricity and rated to last 2.5 times longer than a standard halogen. - Osram 20W IRC Energy Efficient Halogen Globes
Use 60% less electricity for 75% of the brightness with a standard halogen light. Lamp life rated at 5000 hours* 2-3 times longer than what is on the shelves (*5000 hours = average lamp life which is almost 3 years if on for 5 hours a day. Note the more time any globe is switched on and off the shorter the life.) Over the average life of the globe you save $27 in electricity costs. - 10W Philips LED Globes
Are the first true replacement for halogen downlights. They work well with redback transformers, and are dimmable. Install these and you're on your way to serious energy savings (80%+). Over the average life of each globe they would save $416 in electricity costs ($16pa per globe). They do not get as hot. Greatly reduces fire danger caused by hot halogen bulbs. They have a manufacturer’s guarantee of 3 years but we extend it to 5 years in domestic installations. Delivering a warm, halogen/incandescent-like accent beam, the lamp life is rated at 30,000 hours** about 16-25 times longer than most globes on the supermarket shelves.
